Divination

While considered a sort of “fast and loose” kind of magic, due to the most common methods of fortune-telling being vague at best, and the fact that, technically, any witch can practice divination with relative ease, this type of magic is nothing to fool around with when it comes to the masters. Those with natural inclinations towards divination have often experienced prophetic visions in childhood, or pulling sensations in the gut when approaching situations they did not have prior knowledge of being possibly dangerous. In more extreme cases, child diviners have been plagued with terrible dreams of the future, both true and false, that carried through into adulthood; cases such as these often lead to something referred to as Predictor’s Paralysis (or Cassandra’s Paralysis in years past), a disorder in child Diviners that presents itself in heightened anxiety and paranoia, and if left untreated for long enough, actual physical paralysis. Because of conditions such as Predictor’s Paralysis, childhood divination is often discouraged, and treated through a variety of remedies, from herbal teas, to protection amulets. Adult or adolescent divination is more often practiced/encouraged due to their more developed minds being able to distinguish reality from imagination, as well as their abilities to protect their minds more efficiently from outside influences. Divination comes in many different forms, and truly accurate divination is borderline intangible to beginning diviners. This magical practice is not for the faint of heart, and should you choose the path of divination, let it be known that the future is not always so certain, nor is it always so bright. Many have been driven mad by divination, unable to tell reality from fantasy, past from present, present from future, future from past… It is not one of the most glamorous paths to take, but should you decide to travel it, you will be bearing a burden that most of society will thank you for taking.
