Bastion Class Battleships

Bastion class ship acting as the main fire support of the fleet they are attached to. The ships serve as the main firepower against other capital or larger class vessels. Boasting superior firepower and defensive capabilities this ship class can fit in all manner of roles ranging from direct fire support to defensive screen.
Unlike other capital sized ships, the production facilities aboard the Bastion ships only produce additional armaments and can maintain even in the thick of battle. Missiles and other munitions can be produced at almost the same rate that they are expended taking hours of continuous battle before these ships begin to lose offensive capacity.
Offensively, the Bastion class ships punch well above their weight and bristle with lasers, ballistic weapons, and missile launchers. Although mostly geared to take on same sized or larger vessels, they are not completely unable to strike at smaller craft as well, although with reduced efficiency.
Defensively, the Bastion class ships can hold their own through a prolonged conflict. Class-C shields, point defense lasers, flak cannons, and layers of armor round out the defensive capabilities of these ships. Due to the size of these ships, only one shield core exists, but it is more heavily armored than even a Vanguard class ship.
Bastion class battleships are not the fastest of ships in the Terran Ascendency, moving at speeds just beyond the capability of Vanguard class ships.
