The Breaches

Connecting the Above and Below are the Breaches; described as tornadoes formed from the Ocean Below, it's actually been discovered that there are two core currents - one going up from the Ocean Below, and one going down from the Ocean Above. These currents exist within the main torrent of water; the majority of boats are torn to shreds by the outer torrents before they reach either of the core currents inside it.

FIG ONE; The average width of a Breach is half a mile length and width-wise; the height between the Ocean Above and Ocean Below is several hundreds of thousands of feet.

Manifestation

From Below, the Breach appears as a stationary whirlpool. The dark waters from Below become brighter and more oceanic blue the closer to the Ocean Above that the column of water gets. The waters are intense, smashing into each-other and sending a constant spray; anything caught within the currents without significant protection will be smashed and torn to pieces by the colliding waters.

Localization

Breaches are far more easily spotted in the Sunken Cities from the Ocean Below, where they exist as large towering tornadoes of water connecting it to the Ocean Above. On the Surface, Breaches are visible as extremely large whirlpools on the surface of the ocean.
