Arvalor

A world where the magical and mundane struggle to coincide. Aether, a semi-corporeal fluid charged with magical energy, flows through Arvalor in subterranean streams called ley lines. Where the lines meet, upwellings of aether rise to the surface, creating regions blessed by magic. These magical zones vary in strength and size.   Magical creatures thrive within magic zones. However, the benefits of magic have always attracted the desires of non-magical creatures. While quite powerful compared to their mundane counterparts, magical creatures aren't invulnerable, and many weaker magical zones have long ago been conquered by mundane races. The modern world is a tenuous balance between kingdoms of magical and non-magical races.
