Summertide

Summertide, the domain of the Seelie Court, is a realm of perpetual twilight, a place where the enchanting glow of twilight meets vibrant landscapes and mystical creatures. The land is a harmonious tapestry of contrasting regions, each infused with fae magic and mystical allure. These lands are ruled by the Seelie Court, under Queen Titania, seen as the counterbalance to the Unseelie Court and their lands of the Argent Reach.

Summer Forests

The summer forests are a verdant spectacle, where ancient trees stand tall and proud, their canopies forming a kaleidoscope of colors. Here, fairies called Sun Dancers flit among the leaves, their graceful dance illuminating the forest floor with shimmering light. However, lurking beneath the beauty lies the mischievous Summer Shadows, playful tricksters that can lead wanderers astray.

Groves and Wellsprings

The Groves and Wellsprings are sacred places of serenity and renewal, where the magic of the land flows freely. Hidden among the lush greenery, Wellsprings hold the power to heal and restore, while Groves serve as sanctuaries for both the fey and the natural world. Yet, the purity of these places attracts jealous spirits known as Echo Envy, seeking to disrupt the peace of these hallowed grounds.

Rivers and Lakes

Rivers and Lakes weave through the landscape like shimmering veins, their waters reflecting the colors of the setting sun. The River Nymphs, ethereal and graceful beings, glide across the waters, while playful Water Sprites bring life to the shores with their watery tricks. But beneath the ripples, mysterious lake-dwellers known as Lake Shades lurk, guarding secrets unknown to mortals.

Endless Fields

Endless Fields stretch like golden seas beneath the twilight sky. Here, wildflowers bloom in a symphony of colors, attracting the shimmering Meadow Moths that dance like stars in the night. Yet, amid the beauty lies the Golden Thorn, a treacherous creature that ensnares wanderers with its glowing allure.

Mushroom Forests

Enchanted groves filled with towering mushrooms of vibrant colors and various sizes. These fungi are not only a testament to the Fae Realm's magic but also serve as homes for various fae creatures, from mischievous sprites to wise mushroom folk.

Rolling Hills

The Rolling Hills are gentle slopes adorned with vibrant flora, where Sun Fauns frolic and play their enchanting melodies on musical stones, stringed instruments, and flutes. However, the hills are home to the elusive Hushers, creatures that thrive in the silence and darkness, guarding dark secrets of the fae only they can fathom.

Sparkling Glades

Hidden clearings within the heart of the forests, where shimmering light dances among the leaves. These glades are often places of enchantment, where the Seelie Court gathers for celebrations and rituals.

Magic Waterfalls

Cascades of water that sparkle with radiant energy, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. The waterfalls hold magical properties, cleansing and revitalizing those who bask in their refreshing mists.

The Unseen Dangers

In Summertide, danger is concealed beneath the surface of beauty and magic. The realms of twilight and fae enchantment hide unpredictable and mischievous creatures. Prudence is key, as fairies and monsters possess powers beyond mortal understanding, and their whims may lead visitors astray.

It is a realm of captivating enchantment, where danger and beauty intertwine, and the boundaries between the mystical and the mundane blur. To explore Summertide is to embrace the allure of twilight and dance with the hidden wonders and perils that dwell within the Seelie Court's lands.

History

Long ago, as the Fae Realm bloomed with untamed magic, Titania, a figure of radiant grace, emerged as a guiding force in the realm of twilight and splendor. She and her sister, Mab, were daughters of Mora, the Phantom Mother of the Elves and the one who seeded elven life into the Fae Realm to guard and protect it. Titania and Mab decided to take the untamed nature of the Fae and protect their raw magical nature. Their interactions with the mortal realm is what made them different at the start, where Titania sought deals and contracts with mortals which were mutually beneficial, Mab sought bargains which empowered the Fae at the cost of mortals and their realm. Titania was quick with her tongue and clever with her speech and sought to resolve matters through politics, deceit, contracts and negotiations, unlike her violent sister Mab who was quick to draw swords and magic.

Titania sensed the need for a realm that would embody the vibrancy and vitality of summer, a land where life flourished under the eternal twilight sky. Various portals to outer planes of existence began to open, and Mab fought visciously with her trained armies of fae, where Titania sought peace before violence. The warm nature of Titania formed the wilds around her into the Summertide, the lands of spring and summer. Mab's cold nature formed the wilds she ruled into the Argent Reach, the lands of autumn and winter.

With her deep connection to nature and the essence of life, Titania set out to create Summertide, and the Sumertide Palace, the Land of Eternal Summer and Twilight. She gathered like-minded beings, those who reveled in the joys of summer and the harmonious dance of fae magic. With her consort Oberon at her side, a loyal companion who has shared her journey for centuries, if not millennia, they laid the foundation for the Seelie Court, a council of archfae dedicated to nurturing life and embracing the wonders of summer and the warm wild magic of the fae realm.

Culture

The Summer and Spring Elf Kin were among the first inhabitants of Summertide, elves who found solace in the vibrant landscapes and bountiful magic of the realm. Their culture was based on harmony with nature, honoring its cycles and seasons. They formed a kinship with various types of fairies and sprites, who brought their own magical talents to the court. Formidable wielders of magic and word, these beings are known for their deceptive bargains, and tricky contracts. Actions within this culture are not ultimately evil, rather than the intent of the methods used. The mortals have a term called Fae Morality, which refers to the elusive morality of the fae and how they stick to rules which are above what most mortals can comprehend. There seem to be some iron hard moral laws here, but the mortals can't seem to pinpoint them.

The Elf Kin, fairies and sprites of Summertide, while often mischievous, viewed their tricks and pranks as an art form, an expression of their playfulness and creativity. Deception and trickery were part of their culture, but not out of malevolence. Instead, it was a means of teaching life lessons, testing the virtues of others, and encouraging the embrace of joy and wonder.

The culture of Summertide was primarily herbivorous, reflecting the nurturing and life-affirming aspect of the court. The inhabitants of this realm revered the beauty of the natural world and lived in harmony with its creatures. Their feasts were lavish with fruits, vegetables, and nectar, a testament to their connection with the abundant life around them.

Sylanthus the Archfae of Wisdom, Revelry, and Satyrs, the Pied Piper of the Fae

Among the inhabitants of Summertide, Sylenthus stood out as a rambunctious satyr, adopting the role of an honorary son to Queen Titania and Oberon. His exuberant and wild nature made him a champion of keeping the Fae Realm free from the constraints of organized society. He relished in causing playful havoc to any attempts of civilization encroaching upon their lands, ensuring the wild magic of the realm remained untouched.

Queen Titania and King Oberon had adopted a loyal son many thousands of years ago, he was known as the Lord of the Satyrs, Sylenthus. Sylenthus was a loyal advisor to Oberon and Titania for his whole life. When the the two Archfey went away for a full decade, and came back with a child, he took him in as his ward. Sylenthus was known for his revelry, drunkenness, brilliant music and song, love of nature and hatred of cities, but also his uncanny wisdom and prophecy. It was rumored he fell out of favor with his adopted parents once the child ran away prior to his five hundredth birthday. But the court makes no mention of this as he is still one of the most powerful archfae, and the three archfae deny it.

Powers include control over nature, exceptional musical talent, and the ability to inspire wild abandon and joy in others, he was also gifted in foresight, prophecy, and wisdom advising rulers. Worshiped by satyrs and other woodland fae, and helps bring music, dance, and celebration to the fae realm. As the adopted son of the Queen of the Seelie Fae, he is one of the few who can come and go anywhere as he pleases. He seeks to bring wildness back to the Fae, and to stop an evil he has felt encroaching on his home for time uncounted.

Glimmer Quibbelquack, the Archfey of Fairies, Illusion, and Radiance

Glimmer is a captivating figure in the Fae Realm, known as the Warden of the Wobbly Walkways and Mischievous Merriment. As the Fairy Queen of Light and Radiance, her powers encompass the mastery of light and fire, creating breathtaking visual displays and enchanting illusions. She is revered for her healing abilities, as her light can mend wounds and bring vitality to those in need.

Affectionately nicknamed the "Illuminator," Glimmer is worshipped by a devoted following of sprites, pixies, fairies, fireflies, and will-o'-the-wisps. In her radiant presence, the Fae Realm basks in a warm glow, and her magical touch brings forth a symphony of luminescence that awakens the very essence of life.

Hailing from the land of Luminta, Glimmer's dominion is a realm of endless brilliance, where light dances among the leaves, and the night skies are adorned with shimmering constellations. The wobbly walkways she guards connect the various regions of Lumina, where mischievous merriment and delightful pranks are ever-present.

Glimmer Quibbelquack stands as a beacon of joy and hope, inspiring the denizens of Lumina to embrace the beauty of radiance and the allure of illusion. Her realm is a testament to the wonder of light, and under her guidance, the fae find solace and warmth, ever grateful for the gifts she bestows upon them.

Beyond the Court

Beyond the borders of the Seelie Court, the Sun Gremlins, Gnomes, pixies, satyrs, and therianthropes made their homes in the untamed expanses of Summertide. They embraced the omnivorous nature of their society, hunting and foraging as part of their connection to the wild magic. These beings also are known for their battles which rage on for weeks at a time. Sometimes these battles are fought traditionally with weapons, sometimes magic and illusions, sometimes music and revelry. Their culture thrived on cunning and non-traditional bribery, using their wits and wild magic to outmaneuver any challenges that arose.

The Sun Gremlins and therianthropes were devoted to integrating with the natural world, tapping into the primal forces and embracing the spirit of the Fae Realm. Their existence mirrored the untamed and wild aspects of the summer season, celebrating the beauty of the untamed world.

In Summertide, the Seelie Court and its diverse inhabitants found unity in their love for summer and the mystical allure of twilight. With Titania's guidance and Oberon's steadfast companionship, and the Seelie Court they founded to guide the realm, the realm remained a sanctuary of life, enchantment, and a continuous expanse of magic and wonders of the Fae Realm.
