Magitech

All across Khorvaire, the wonders of magitech influence life at every level. From the animated glo-signs outside shops to the crackling electric might of the lightning rail trains, magitech can be seen and felt everywhere. Huge conduits and spider-like webs of wires carry Saether-current through cities to power lights, devices and charging ports in clustered, walled cities protected from the dangers of the wilderness by Saether-reinforced walls. Magitech is ubiquitous across almost all of Khorvaire. Naturally, the larger cities like Flamekeep, Korth, Sharn and Taer Valaestas contain the height of magitechnology but even backwater towns at the edges of civilization often have decades old pieces of magitech that are still in workable condition, having been bought at great discount or even reclaimed from a junkyard & repaired. In fact, the level of magitech a person or family possesses is often the most obvious indicator of their wealth thanks to the immense gap in cost between different generations of magitechnology.
In the last two decades, magitech has become even more advanced thanks to the reverse engineering of Illithid craft & inventions. As a race without magic, the Illithid leaned heavily on technological invention and, as such, recovered items from them allowed magitech to advanced in leaps & bounds. Even now, Illithid items can demand a high price especially if they represent a kind of technology not previously studied and its this value that spurs on the foolish & fearless to brave the dark, twisted corridors of Illithid Underdark overlaid beneath Khorvaire's surface.
