Kalvik
Kalvik lies among the icy plains in what is known as the lands of eternal winter, the blistering cold in the reaches north of New Helmstadt are snow covered year round, Kalvik is particularly chilly with the strong winds blowing across the plains. The village is small, its homesteads are built under the ground itself, with only the ceilings peaking up above the surface. At the center of Kalvik is the enormous building, a haven from the cold, and centre of all activity in Kalvik, housing all the shops and populated with large warm hearths, this centre building is known as the Hearthfire Hall.
Trade is poor in Kalvik, the majority of traders come from outside Kalvik and do business by bartering resources for lodgings, almost any citizen is willing to allow travellers a place to rest in exchange for goods or money. Anyone traversing the plains knows that a pit stop in Kalvik is almost mandatory for their own survival.
Demographics
Ridgehills
The homes surrounding Hearthfire hall from a distance appear like a field of sharp ridges which are themselves the top of the homes the citizens dwell in.
Hearthfire Hall
The gargantuan building at the centre of Kalvik is a district of the town in itself. Dozens of smokestacks and chimneys stick out the top sending a large plume of smoke into the sky. The hall is entirely built of Shieldwood and does not burn. Within lies an indoor town block. The High ceilings are painted with the ancient histories of the human heroes of the first colony in revelry with the old gods themselves. Rows upon rows of leatherbound awnings make up the taverns and shops of Kalvik. At the centre of the Hall lies a small structure within, this is the residence of the Thane.
