Genasi

The Origins of Genasi hail from The Southern Isles of Tel'Onarafel, east across the Sirenius Ocean. The First Genasi nation to arrive on Tel'Evandros, thousands of years ago, were the Aquan. The Aquan arrived during a time of a holy war between the Metallic and Chromatic Dragonborn, though they stayed out of that quarrel, they began the colony of Korra, which grew to become the city it is now. After the fall of the Chromatics, The Auran, Ignan, and Terran arrived on the Eastern shores of Dragonsveil, and were welcomed by the Aquan with open arms. Together, all four races of Genasi built their capital of Gratagar in the fallen domain of Chromatics, the Firescale Steppes.
During the construction of Gratagar, the Genasi came into conflict with the territorial Minotaur tribes, who had self proclaimed the Steppes as their Hunting lands, and after a short conflict and sheer loss of the Minotaur, the Genasi gave them mercy, allowing them to hunt outside of the Gratagar region. The Genasi did this, knowing the Minotaur presence was a deterrent for the more cruel and sinister races of the Steppes from gaining to much territory or becoming to much of a threat. In the present day, the Genasi and Minotaur share peace, with many Minotaur even calling Korra home.
Genasi are cousins of the human race, but they carry the power of the elements in their anatomy and their souls, much like an elemental, their bodies manifest the element they are born with, an Ignan may have flaming hair or volcanic skin, or a Terran may have rocky flesh. Their way of life is heavily influenced by the elements, their monastic traditions result in monks who live to manifest and master the elements for reasons not limited to combat, they may use the elements to build, to travel, to protect and so on. Outsiders refer to Genasi by their element, Fire Genasi, Air Genasi, Water Genasi, and Earth Genasi, but Genasi refer to themselves as Ignan, Auran, Aquan and Terran.
