In the ancient tongue Aronvell means seat of the gods. The gods that once walked the continents of Meridian and Akros are long forgotten by man, remembered only by beings wise enough to fear them. Aronvell is home to such creatures, as well as a delightful host of horrors, myth, and legend. For in the footsteps of the gods, all things follow.     The continent of Akros is home to the sprawling LaCossian Empire. While not the first empire the world has ever seen, it is indeed the grandest. All those who find themselves walking the streets of the empire find the offer of citizenship. None are turned away, from the lowly beggar to the happiest elf lord. The empire has a place for everyone. But as empires grow, so do their voracious appetites. Long have the desires of the empire been satiated by the natural resources provided by Akros, but now it hungers for more. Its gaze turns west, past the Jade Atoll and beyond to Cerulean Ocean, to the mythical land of Meridian.     Meridian, or the Land of Ascension, is where seven men and women rose up and usurped the gods of old. While the LaCossian Empire finds itself amidst a golden age, Meridian shoulders the skeleton of the League of Eight. Once a great alliance between the eight Meridian cities of man and elf, the League of Eight did want all empires are wont to do, it collapsed. The following centuries saw plague, war, and famine on a continent-wide scale. In the aftermath, the wilds began to grow back, far stronger than before. Pockets of civilization have emerged, slowly waiting out the dark age, but nature has other plans.     Two forces are on a collision course, LaCossian Expansion and the wilds of Meridian. With the founding of the LaCossian settlement, Port Primus, on Meridian's southwestern coast, merchants and adventurers hope to make name for themselves and to plunder the wealth left buried. And so they move, blissfully unaware of what waits beneath the earth.
