The world of Arithor: a short description of current events. Year 128
The world of Arithor is a world that currently enjoys a fragile peace.
It exists between 4 great nations, Pirate kingdom, Surda, Yetha and Saikha.
Pirate Kingdom:
The pirate kingdom lies to the south, it houses Tortuga from wish King Beerbeard rules. The pirate lands are lawless and chaotic; there is but one law, which is the Pirate code. The king itself holds no power unless there is a great threat to all pirates. As long As there is no threat, all pirates are free to do whatever they want as long as it abides by the code.
Not all pirates belong to this kingdom! Pirates are free to stand where they want. It falls to reason that not all of them enjoy having a king. There are several ships that sail on their own without loyalty to anyone.
Surda:
Surda is one of the largest kingdoms that has its place in the west of the world. It recently won the war with its northern neighbour "Sa'kava" and claimed the continend for itself. Surda was the last remnant of the kingdom of Rome. As Rome fell, the survivors slowly rebuilt the land they had left, and after a hundred years, they had the strength to reclaim a big part of their land.
Saikha:
A land filled whit magic in the northern part of the world.
The land is filled whit magic that, to this day, cannot be explained. The continent was once home to the world tree Yggdrasill. A long and violent war amongst the elves that most have forgotten caused its demise, creating an enormous maelstrom to the west of their continent. The maelstrom is slowly eating the closeby land, and now and then, pieces break off and are slowly pulled in.
Dwarves lived high in the mountains of this land, gazing down over the other races. Tho they are high in number, they prefer to stay on their own. Making dwarves an uncommon sight in the world.
Yetha:
A Large island ( size of Belgium ) that lies in the middle of the world map.
The entire island has become one city, making it the biggest in the world.
Yetha does not consider itself to be a nation. It stated itself to be a neutral ground to anyone and anything. It holds a powerful militia that guards its neutrality and answers to a select amount of high elves. Yetha itself is ruled by all nations combined in a big council. Tho, the high elves always have the last word.
Current events:
currently, political tension is high for several reasons.
Reason 1
: Yggdrasil has secretly been planted again in the middle of Yetha. The tree's rapid growth worries several members as the tree is already moving the ground to make way for its roots. The high elves of Yetha are divided between preserving the tree and preserving the island.
reason 2:
Surda is demanding the release of a wanted man currently residing at Surda. Yetha points out their neutrality and that this man has lived an exemplary life in their city so far. However, recently it seems Beerbeard also wants this man off the island, placing Yetha in a difficult position.
Saikha offered a home for these people as they were grateful to this man who helped them whit a pirate problem.
All of this put the parties against each other, and little is needed to spark a war between them.
The war between gods.
Recently the realm of mortals has learned that the gods have been fighting a 121-year-long war. It was only when Vulcan, god of the forge and fire, defeated Mars, god of war, that the war finally ended. Currently, the realm of the gods lies in ashes as the few who remain to try to rebuild.
The death of many gods has left a power vacuum, welcoming other creatures to try and claim their place amongst the gods.
Evolving events of Arithor, Year 129
In the current timeline, we find ourselves in the month of June in the year 129 ATF. Our world has been devastated by a colossal tsunami of unprecedented proportions, resulting in widespread destruction on a global scale. The epicenter of this catastrophic wave can be traced back to the Dragon Spine, a massive island situated south of Surda. Surda, fortunately shielded by towering mountains on its southern shores, managed to escape the full wrath of the tsunami. However, to the east of Surda lies the pirate nation ruled by Beerbeard, whose flat island was completely engulfed by the relentless surge, obliterating both Tortuga and Nassau. Although the more northern countries were spared the brunt of the tsunami's force, numerous towns and cities fell victim to devastating floods. The loss of life is immeasurable, with countless individuals being swept away into the open ocean, where they face an inevitable fate at the precipice of oblivion.
In response to this calamity, Yetha has undertaken a valiant rescue mission, mobilizing a substantial fleet of vessels to comb the vast expanse of the ocean in search of survivors. According to their esteemed scientists, there remains a brief window of approximately four weeks before those stranded at sea reach the point of no return. Seventy-five ships sail perilously close to the misty edges, hoping to intercept and save these souls, while an additional 120 vessels brave the treacherous currents in pursuit of the stranded.
Surda, capitalizing on the devastation, has laid claim to the decimated island that once served as a haven for the free-spirited Pirate Nation. This aggressive act has raised concerns and unease among both Yetha and Saikha. Exploiting this natural disaster to expand their borders is met with strong condemnation, igniting fervent political debates within Yetha's corridors of power.
