Shadow

The Shadows are mysterious spirit beings, known to all across Arin but perceived in very different lights. Although they come originally from their own spirit world (what the Lanar call a world-leaf), they are capable of taking corporeal form in the physical world. When they do, they can appear in whichever form they choose, but typically appear in the form of human, Anaris or húgriff with black hair, eyes and sometimes dark skin. If they appear as Anaris, their lúiníen are also black. Immortal, the Shadows, whose name for themselves is known to no one on Arin, are sexless and genderless, but often assume gender and sex when taking physical form. Their deep connection to the spirit worlds allows them access to deep, ancient magic and they can move between worlds with relative ease. There are differing stories as to how the Shadows came to be, with the Anaris believing them to be creations of the Anarin gods, while the Forenians deem them to be devils born of human evil. It is known, however, that Shadows will sometimes act for or with many different gods.
