The Shattering of the Üth Empire

Era beginning/end

Year 1379 of the Age of Steel, the 8th day of Primarch

With their source of twilium, and therefore black steel, lost, and countless complex issues arising, the remaining lords of the empire turned against each other and broke the empire into smaller states, thus ending the Age of Steel.

By year 1326 of the Age of Steel, the Üth Empire had lost access to twilium, and therefore the ability to craft black steel. The northern half of the empire had already broken up into various city-states and nations that now forms the Braccian League. The vast expansion of the empire had already strained its resources, and when it lost the support of these northern peoples, everything else began to fall apart.   Lords within the remaining empire began to have disagreements, often violently. The emperor did his best to maintain his control, but it was not long before he was assassinated. At that point the lords decided to split the land into multiple smaller kingdoms that each one would gain control of. This shattering marked the end of the Age of Steel, in year 1379.
