The Divine Light is Created

Though it is beyond the comprehension of most mortals, what is known is that the gods created the Divine Light as a weapon to use against a threat beyond the mortal worlds.

Nobody fully understands the nature of the threat that reared its head to the gods. The only thing that is known is that this terrifying being existed beyond the material realms where only the gods could deal with it, and it was so powerful that it frightened them.   Their response was to create The Divine Light. At the time, the Light was merely a tool, or a weapon to be used by the gods. In the rare occurrence that it manifested on Terra, it simply appeared as a blinding light.   The length of the conflict between the gods and this interdimensional threat are impossible to understand. It is believed that it lasted for many millennia, but time for the gods passes in a much different way than it does in the mundane world, as the fight was won several centuries later.
