The beating heart of the Zanja Khalanate, and the central hub of trade between the Boiling Sea and the Bracciano Sea. Every single person who's been to this gargantuan metropolis tells tale of the cliff that bisects the city in two. Not the cliff itself, but the unbelievably intricate and beautiful system of lifts, waterfalls, waterwheels and gears that covers every inch of rock.
The Zanjanites have devised a system using the power of the waterfalls to power engineering marvels that literally lift ships up and down the cliffside, allowing them to continue their journey from one sea to the other. Massive amounts of land cargo are also transported up and down more conventional lifts that dot the cliff.
Perhaps more amazing than all of that, though, are the kaleidoscope of glass, mirrors, and lights that decorate the waterwheels and gears that make up the lift systems. These pieces of art are constantly rotating and seemingly morphing as the gears spin. One could spend days looking at these and never see the same shapes twice. Many people believe they can see images of animals or people when the plates align in certain ways.
