Caltathui Rainforest

The Caltathui Rainforest is a large, dense jungle that occupies a large swathe of land on the southern coast of central Beogar. Inside of it can be found incredibly large and dangerous beasts, from insects to aberrations and monstrosities that are native to the area.

Geography

The Caltathui Rainforest is the only true jungle in Beogar, and it stretches across much of the southern coast of central Beogar, only truly stopping a hundred leagues or so from the Kolkari Mountains. Much of the jungle lies in lowlands, only broken by the Machatun Mountain Range. Closer to the coast, many of the rivers streaming from the nearby mountains and highlands fan out into river deltas, causing these lowlands to become tropical wetlands in that specific area.

Fauna & Flora

The flora and fauna of the Caltathui Rainforest consist of what is generally expected in a rainforest, but with even more biodiversity. Many of these creatures are larger, more dangerous, and more savage than their traditional counterparts. In addition to the more dangerous variations of normal beasts and insects, there are a considerable number of creatures that are native to the rainforest.   The plant life is more unique, with a vast number of carnivorous plants native to the jungle. Some of these plants are dangerous enough to be considered perilous to even seasoned adventurers. Exacerbating this danger is the fact that some of the plants can, in fact, move independently. Contrary to what seems intuitive, these plants do not seem to be sentient or intelligent by any measure.

Natural Resources

Most of the natural resources of the region are not found within the earth, but instead within the plants and animals. Many of the creatures and vegetation native to the area have potent medicinal uses, and many specific antitoxins and antivenoms have been developed using reptiles from this rainforest.
