Bronzefire Battalion

The Bronzefire Battalion was founded in 729 VR by Nonach Giogos when he was given the title of commander of his own battalion within the military of the Aetasian Empire. The battalion from 729-733 served in a border guarding campaign to combat against raiders from the Abyrzitian nations. The battalion continues in our year, 900, as a shock troop battalion of the military of Aspidos and acts mainly as a mobile police force for urban environments.

History

Service during the Aetasian Empire. (729-735)

After the foundation of the battalion, it mainly took part in various campaigns and skirmishes in the north of Lacea to defend against raiders from northern nations, and in 731 was when prominent figure of the battalion; Evno Nypos would join and become an apprentice and lieutenant to Nonach Giogos.

In 733, the battalion was sent to the garrison of Alydela, and Commander Nonach Giogos entered the realm of politics, rising the ladder quickly due to his reputation and familial connections. In late 734, Nonach would negotiate with Emperor Vulnus and be given the title of Viceroy of the Sykrosine Kingdom, and reorganized the Bronzefire Battalion into his personal guard in 735.

Service as Viceroy Guard. (735-738)

The Bronzefire Battalion now led by Evno Nypos as captain, protected and served now Viceroy Giogos for three years until 738, when Viceroy Giogos released a decree forbidding the use of personal retinutes and organizing a royal guard to protect all officials of the vicekingdom, the Bronzefire Battalion being transferred into the regiments within the royal guard.

Service within the Sykrosine Royal Guard. (738-742)

Soon after the reorganization into the Royal Guard, Captain Semio and Lieutenant Nypos went on an escort mission of Councilor Barsaios to Aiomenos, along the way they were ambushed and Lieutenant Nypos was captured along with a few other soldiers of the Bronzefire Battalion, Nypos would not be seen again for years.

Captain Semio led the Bronzefire Battalion with strict discipline, partaking in many protection missions during battles and sieges. In 742, during the siege of Edanos, Captain Semio and the Bronzefire Battalion was forced to retreat into the castle keep after the rebel army scaled the walls and infiltrated the city, during the rebels army attack on the castle, it turned out to be ex-lieutenant Nypos who had been assumed dead. In a tight close quarter standoff between the Bronzefire Battalion and the rebel forces with Nypos, Nypos persuaded the bronzefire battalion soldiers to join the rebellion, seeing as the Sykrosine were losing the civil war. They joined him and turned on the lord they were defending and Captain Semio.

Partisan Service during the Sykrosine Civil War. (742-744)

For a year they served under their revered captain Nypos once again, and fought for their cause of liberation of Lacea from Aetasian influence. The Bronzefire Battalion was part of the Simeian Partisan Alliance and within it, the Kadelian Partisans. In the Battle of Alydela (743), Captain Nypos went missing once more under the rubble of the city after a bloody battle and was pronounced dead. A year later after a few more battles, the Aetasian Empire ceded and abandoned Lacea, leading to the surrender of Viceroy Giogos and the dissolution of the Sykrosine Kingdom, ending the civil war.
