The Merrow's Pearl Pirate Crew

Structure

Originally run by Ol' Yellow Eyes, a fearsome hobgoblin who was exiled from his legion for disobeying his warlord's orders. According to legend, he slaughtered his entire legion, and anyone who knew his true name would come to a horrible end, usually by Ol' Yellow Eyes' hands.   Following his death, the first mate, Ysabel Bruckwilde took his place as captain. Captain Bruckwilde began life as a lowly street rat in southern Sylanta. She dropped off the radar for nearly a decade before resurfacing as a deckhand on Ol' Yellow Eyes' ship, where she quickly earned the trust and respect of the captain, eventually working her way up the ladder to become first mate and, later, captain.

Assets

The Merrow's Pearl: a triple-decked, three-masted galleon with eight cannons on each side of the ship.

History

Little is known of the history of the Merrow's Pearl, as all records of her ownership were destroyed in the Great Storms of 8000. While exact dates are uncertain, she was first sited in the hands of Ol' Yellow Eyes and his crew in 8016, presumably after they killed her previous owners. The pirate's tenure as captain was short and bloody. They preyed on ships bound for Port Serenity, burning and plundering all in their wake. For seven years, they narrowly evaded capture by Azmarin Port Authority.   Then, in late 8023, one of his crew members--a water genasi named Albatross--stole a treasure chest filled with recent plunder and hid it somewhere in Waukeen's Knuckles. Ol' Yellow Eyes sent a scout to capture Albatross and interrogate him for the treasure's location. Finding Albatross talking with three other people and assuming these were his partners in crime, the scout took all four of them back to the ship. They managed to escape their bonds, and a fight broke out, wherein Ol' Yellow Eyes was seriously injured and Albatross escaped overboard*.   The remaining prisoners--who, in fact, had never met either Albatross or each other before that day--made a deal to help recover the treasure in exchange for a cut of the gold. They deciphered a map stolen from Albatross and discovered he had hidden it in the middle of Waukeen's Knuckles. There they found Albatross lying in wait, and he managed to kill Ol' Yellow Eyes before being killed himself.
*Rumors that a plesiosaurus attacked the ship during this battle must surely be fictitious, as the dinosaurs went extinct long before the Century of Incursions.
