Serenity District

Demographics

The Serenity District is home to some of the wealthiest and some of the poorest individuals in Azmarin. The areas where the destabilization hit hardest have turned into Azmarin's worst slums, while those same areas that were bought up and gentrified are now the island's newest, most expensive houses.

Infrastructure

This is what gives Azmarin the moniker, "The Floating City." While not literally floating, the Serenity District is a vast, interconnected network of boardwalks and piers. The city first began construction on it during the Arroyosan era when the population became too large to house on land alone. The areas closest to the shore are all neatly ordered in grids, but the further out you go the more chaotic it gets as you move past the original, government-built buildings to the places built later by private realtors.
Individuals began illegally building onto the edges without driving piles underneath it into the seafloor. This destabilized huge swaths of the district and caused major structural damage to the buildings. In time these areas became too expensive to maintain, and they fell into disrepair: some becoming Azmarin's slums and others being bought out and gentrified.
