Daylita

General Summary

Daylita is a strange and cold island. All who live there are used to death and understand the harshness of where they live. However, they are proud of their homeland.   The island is characterized by the many mountain ranges to the north and the frozen lakebeds to the south. No matter the location, strange phenomenon constantly occurs. Some say that this may be due to close connections to other realms or perhaps just a trick of the gods. However, anyone who lives there is not surprised to find strange happenings. It is also not uncommon for one to begin exhibiting innate abilities, such as reading minds or rune creation. Since discovery of the Unknown Island, some have wondered if maybe Arcane causes these phenomenon, but no evidence supports this theory.

Races

Two races are native to this island: Kalashtar and Goliaths. The Kalashtar prefer to stay away from the mountains in the north and have settles near the frozen lakebeds of the south. Some theorize they were human at one point, but due to a thin barrier between our realm and the dream realm, they have inherited spirits of the dream realm known as Quori. However, none of this proven other than the fact that all Kalashtar become bonded to a Quori and those who do not are swiftly cast out into the cold tundra.   Goliaths thrive in the mountain ranges to the north. They are a strong willed people who believe strength defines character. Many have become known for hunting mystical beasts that appear in the mountains. The mountains themselves have a strange magical energy that fills the environment, so it is not uncommon for a Goliath to display magical capabilities in the form of runes. While runes are not limited to Daylita, goliaths are capable of inherently using them, even if never taught.

Island Deity

The island deity is Phatar, the God of Death. Many of the island inhabitants are very thoughtful about death in general, so they pay great respects to Phatar. When a loved one is sick, the Kalashtar will perform rituals to Phatar for a safe passover to death. The Goliaths 'worship' Phatar by adding the cycle of death through hunting and fighting.
