Chesgate

General Summary

Many refer to this island as the 'island within an island.' The island consists of an outer layer of land that holds a massive sea, much like a bowl holding water. Small islands dot this sea, but one is a lot bigger than all rest and is the only one visible on any map. This larger island is known as Chesgate Proper, or as known to the residents, Ho'omaha (Ho-Oh-Mah-Ha). However, there is a hidden civilization that thrives underneath the water in Chesgate, but only a few locals know of it.   Ho'omaha has mainly become a resort island where people from all around come to relax and unwind. The beaches on Chesgate are immaculate and the weather never is too cold or too hot. It is almost a paradise! This is a drastic change from Chesgate Proper's early days as it was plagued by torrential rainstorms making it uninhabitable. However, very few rainstorm occur now, leaving the are perfect for a vacation!

Races

Halflings and Water Genasi have populated Ho'omaha and turned it into a resort island. While halflings are not native to the island, many have moved to the island. Water Genasi used to only live under the waters, but have since taken residence on the island.   Under the waters, Triton and Locathah dwell and have established their own underwater civilization. They rarely (if ever) come to the surface, preferring to stay away from the other races that visit Chesgate.

Island Deity

The island deity is Nava, Goddess of the Tempest. Her storms used to ran rampant, forcing many of the inhabitants to dwell under the sea surfaces. However, the storms no longer rage on the surface. The inhabitants of Ho'omaha make offerings and pray for continued clear skies daily. Many of the resorts have made this worship more of a show to entertain visitors. Once a year, a festival is held through the whole island in praise for continued clear weather.
