Rainbow Peak

The Gemstone Mountains are known as such because of the veins of precious stones that run through them. A vein of diamonds has its source near Cornerstone Peak on the northeast corner of Cemrys. A vein of sapphires runs eastward from the ocean in southeastern Strevlost. And it is said that topaz can be found deep under the mountain of Dinrim.

Many of these veins on the western end of the mountains are actively mined, most by the Strevlostins, but a few also by the Indalifi. However, the eastern end of the mountains are less impacted as of yet by the industry of miners. There, bordered by Cemrys in the south and the forbidding ice fields of Strevlost in the north, the veins of precious stones come nearer to the surface, and shine forth out of one peak in particular with a light of their own.

This is Rainbow Peak, and it is guarded jealously by a pack of flying wolf-like creatures with brightly colored wings who value the beauty of the gems within the mountain far more than any that have been removed from the earth. They make the mountain their home, build their nests on its glittering heights, teach their young to spread their rainbow wings over the multicolored gems below. Moreover, they believe that this mountain was a special gift to them from Cemrys, Root of Arcoria, who made the mountains and the forest.
