Melchior
Melchior
Melchior is a character who's limited interactions with the Guild of Cardinal Points have left a significant impact.
Their first encounter came when Melchior hired four independent adventurers, Clarence Blackfinger, Opal Eclipse, Plex Ainfold and Dogman, to capture a monster called the Nemion. He claimed this was as a favour to the Alderman of Nemos. To accomplish this mission he gave the Party a simple, undecorated mask that he said would be able to contain the Nemion. The mask was to be placed on the Nemion and activated with the command 'Bind'. When the mask was activated in this way the Nemion was pulled inside it, and the mask physically transformed, taking on the appearance of the Nemion's face and becoming very hot to the touch.
When they returned successful from that quest Melchior gave the Nemion Hunters the the deed for the apartment above Jerome's Armour and Weapons on Tallwater Street. He suggested that it would be advantageous to both them, and himself if they were to form an official Adventurer's Guild in Arcos. He also offered to put future clients in touch with the Guild to get them started. It is probable that this was where the Guild's first major client; Njordstrom Neverbeggar, heard about them. It was also mentioned by Lady Pallas Macyles that the Guild had been recommended to her by Melchior.
Some time after they Guild last encountered him Melchior left a selection of magical items with Jerome the Armourer so that he could sell them to the Guild Members. These items included a mask of Melchior's own creation called the Mask of the Bear. This item was bought by Broxigar 'The Collector' Jones. When Broxigar used the mask it transformed him into a powerful monster insensible to friend or foe.
Physical Description
Facial Features
Melchior was seen to smile broadly for much of his encounter with what was to be the Guild of Cardinal Points. While he remained calm at all times his manner might best be described as 'encouraging'.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
During their encounter Melchior spoke about human progress and wellbeing. While he was regretful that the Nemion would need to be forcibly relocated, he believed that the desire of the Nemos islanders to join the wider world was of greater importance.
