Oasia

Like many desert cities, Oasia has been historically isolated, and thus bears striking cultural differences to the primary cultures of Kentro. Most prominently, Oasia is the only major city-state that has not officially adopted Aonism, though the belief has garnered a good deal of traction in recent years in thanks to the Unity Highway. Instead, Oasia acknowledges their own pantheon of Great Beasts: massive, divine creatures that each act as a steward of their particular domain; usually some aspect of nature.   The Drugoda Desert proved an effective barrier against Antecea's expansion, and Oasia went relatively untouched during their reign. Because of this, Oasia's population was unaffected by the cataclysm that befell the great empire. For this reason, the city took on an almost mythical "safe haven" reputation for those who had escaped the calamity. Oasia was also key in the process of re-learning old technologies and magics lost when Antecea fell. Indeed, when Oasia joined the United Council, the other city-states were surprised by how much insight the reclusive desert city had to offer, like advanced aqueduct systems, metallurgy, advanced spindles and weaving, and construction, to name a few.   Speaking of construction, Oasia is renowned for its stonecraft and complex architecture. It is home to a massive Hanging Gardens (whose construction has been copied in places like Termina and other arid cities) and massive sphinx-like statues of four of the Great Beasts: a monstrous turtle-like creature, two serpent-like creatures (one winged and one more streamlined), and a great bird of prey. Each monument occupies a corner of the city's walls and acts as a temple to each Beast.
