Kasnir Or'Sedan's Smithy
Kasnir Or'Sedan is the uncle of Istari Or'Sedan, her father's brother. He operates one of the best weapon's forges in the city of Corgomath. This is where Istari spends much of her spare time. Her uncle taught her how to fight without magic as a youngling, and has always had a soft spot for her. As the series goes on, this place becomes more and more sacred to her, and eventually to all three of the main protagonists.
Purpose / Function
Kasnir's smithy was originally a millhouse on the river. As the city grew too large, a larger mill was built up river to keep up with the demand and this one was abandoned.
Alterations
When Cairon came to the city with Byrn so she could train with the Masters, Kasnir, a young Ronan that had just successfully passed his apprenticeship to a blacksmith, tagged along. Cairon and Kasnir set about finding housing, and they stumbled upon the old mill building. They offered the old man that owned it, who truly only had it so he could say he owned something, a gold round more than he asked and they set about turning it into a smithy. The river side wall was taken out, as it was crumbling anyway, and replaced with a folding wall that can be opened for ventilation or closed to shelter from the weather. The upstairs area was converted into a living space. Eventually they built on to it, adding living quarters onto one side. Cairon and Byrn eventually separated after Byrn's Ascent to Master of Binding, and Cairon and Istari moved into the second apartment on the side of the building.
