Dragons
Basic Information
Anatomy
All true dragons possess a total of six limbs; two forelegs, two hind legs, and a pair of wings. They also possess a large tail, and a large head with spines and features that vary depending on the specific type of dragon.
Biological Traits
There are two broad categories of dragons: chromatic and metallic. Chromatic dragons, who tend towards evil impulses, include black, blue, green, red, and white dragons, while metallic dragons, who tend to be noble, include brass, bronze, copper, gold, and silver dragons. Metallic dragons are able to shapeshift, and all dragons are capable to using breath weapons of various kinds.
Genetics and Reproduction
Dragons reproduce sexually, but the exact process by which they do so is more complex than how humanoid species do it- especially for dragons with the ability to shapeshift.
Growth Rate & Stages
Dragons grow much more slowly than most other sentient races, only reaching adulthood at 100 years of age. It's unclear if dragons are capable of dying from old age, as their power only appears to grow as they age, and most dragons who have been known to die have died from violence.
Ecology and Habitats
Dragons often have lairs, but the specifics of these lairs vary depending on the type of dragon.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The dietary needs of dragons vary depending on their age. Typically, the older a dragon grows, the more they must eat- and ancient dragons must eat a lot. Most dragons are omnivores, but some prefer to become vegetarian, or focus on eating meat.
