Yatai-chi

Yatai-chi is known as the kitchen of ネオンしま Neonshima.

The smell is what hits you first. Fried food, searing meat. Most of it is synthesized, of course, but the smell alone makes you forget for just a moment.
Then the sound comes in. The faint hiss of the grill and scrape of utensils barely audible through the drone of voices. The advertisements clamouring for attention, advertising the lowest prices, the best flavours.
The heat hits you next, both from the stalls and the crush of people. The cooling system in your jacket flicks on, but your brow is already beading with sweat.
Finally, your eyes adjust to the oddly distinct reduction of pink and blue neon lighting. Instead, restaurants have warm reds and yellows to advertise their presence. Even so, holographic fish, octopi, cows and even shop mascots hover above the crowd, beckoning people to their respective outlets.
