Run by a unique man called Tom, this small and homely building teleports from place to place providing respite to travellers and citizens alike.

Appearance

Exterior

It is often said that you'll know it as soon as you see it, and that is entirely correct. This cottage exudes coziness in an almost tangible aura. The warm lighting of the interior shines out through the glass, and the sign of a pigeon with the words The Roost carved into it with gold hangs above the door. While the exterior is certainly large, the interior appears to take up almost all the space. This leads many to believe the back room is a pocket dimension.

Interior

Inside is a fireplace, three tables and the appropriate number of chairs, although there is enough space for more to be brought out from the mysterious back room. There is a bar, where coffee and tea is served. Alcohol is not available, even though Tom claims he can provide some if he wishes.
Behind the bar is an array of shelves containing, what Tom claims, "everything for the traveller." This includes hot food and bedrolls, which Tom sells to people who wish to spend the night in The Roost.

The Owner

Tom is the only known staff member of The Roost. However, he seems to have a peculiar amount of knowledge. It is debated whether Tom enchanted the building itself, or if he came upon it some other way.

Personality

Tom prefers to talk in the third person. He is generally very friendly and warm, offering a patient ear to anyone who comes into The Roost. This gives Tom a sense of being quiet and unassuming, and those who attempt to steal from Tom are swiftly mistaken. Tom values profit, and has been seen to react quickly against unpleasant or violent customers, quickly escorting them out through magical means. Small offenders are allowed back in within 12 hours, but those who are banned are unable to enter at all.
Tom has also been shown to be the studious type, as he offers a lot of insight and information to travellers about various topics, ranging from botany to meteorology. Tom does not give away this information readily though, and will often only give it when the situation is dire.

History

Tom refuses to talk about his history, and so it is largely unknown. Tom has mentioned having siblings, but nothing else has been revealed. Tom even seems to be either immune to magical effects, or has an anti-magic item on his person, so he can never be forced to reveal his past.

Physical Description

Tom has bluish-grey short hair, small round glasses, a hooked nose and a warm smile. Most people agree his features are "birdlike," though he is very clearly human. He is always freshly shaved, and wears a white shirt with a vest and trousers. Occasionally, he will be sporting a bow and/or apron.
