Dragons and other magic exist in the same time and area but within different dimensions(?) while the normal world has become divided into 'utopias' that are heavily reliant on scientists and technology (women-lead) and the outskirts, which are tech-free due to emp zones and more warrior based due to many rips in the dimensions (not time-space rifts, more like portals). Dragons have avoided contact with humans but now with humans hunting dragons again it's time to go to war to put things right.
