Wolvenfield (Brennacht)

In the southwest of Deumoria, lies a region known as Wolvenfield. As the Valley of Tears opens up, long fields and rolling hills contrast themselves against a very dark, thick forest in the west. Past the woods, the sea glimmers like a jewel, whereas to the south hills become sharper and taller, breaking the horizon.   Wolvenfield is a modern name. It was originally called "Brennacht", but it quickly gained the nickname of "the rebel kingdom". It’s hard to say when Brennacht became one, but there are plenty of legends about King Uthyr, and how he united the local tribes. When King Deumor began his conquest of what would become Deumoria, Brennacht was the last kingdom to fall. Deumor died in battle while in Brennacht, but his liegemen finalized the conquest.   Brennacht was annexed to The Union and renamed Wolvenfield, in reference to the packs of feral wolves that prowled the countryside. The brennatians took a liking to the name, and in mockery renamed their own capital city "Wolves' Den".   During "Lord Farson's Côup", many of Wolvenfield's nobles attempted to reform Brennacht as an indepent nation, but political pressures from within and the threat of Iskolean military intervention kept the plan from working out. When the Sacroregnum was again split, Wolvenfield nationalists attempted the same, but the effort was weak and quickly smothered.
