Ghost

The Ghost (a.k.a. Samael Borage)

Ghost was a man of many talents. With his dark skin, charming smile, and friendly demeanor, he was a master of deception. But beneath his friendly facade, Ghost was a deadly assassin, trained from birth by the criminal syndicate, Nightfall, to kill without mercy.   Despite his fearsome reputation, Ghost longed for something more in life. He grew tired of the endless bloodshed and pointless brutality of his profession, and began to search for a true purpose. However, leaving Nightfall would subject Ghost to being constantly hunted by his former associates, something that deeply terrified him. While searching for a means to leave his pointlessly violent life, he discovered his secret love of cooking, a passion he's since kept hidden from even his closest associates within the syndicate.   Ghost was recruited to the Cult of the Dark Goddess by Gwynevere, a highly celebrated paladin of the Holy Kingdom and covert follower of the Dark Faith. Gwyn was originally sent to hunt Ghost down and kill him, as the Church believed he could be the source of the dark miasma covering half of the capitol. However, Gwyn knew the miasma's true source and had ulterior motives for tracking him down. She saw the opportunity to truly please Astrid by recruiting the country's most feared assassin to the Cult. Managing to convince the assassin that she meant him no harm, she made her offer while buying him drinks at a tavern. Hearing about Ghost's desires to cook, she offered Ghost the building that would become his very own inn and tavern as part of his reward for joining the Cult. The offer provided Ghost with a safe haven from Nightfall where he could continue to practice his cooking skills. Ghost, eager to escape life in the syndicate, accepted the offer, and agreed to meet with Astrid.   His mind was personally screened by Anya, who discerned his intentions were genuine, and Ghost was formally introduced to Astrid. Initially disappointed when the secret mastermind was revealed to be a sixteen-year-old girl, Ghost felt as if he had been played for a fool and tricked. But upon Astrid displaying her true power and intense magical energy, Ghost quickly accepted the blessing of the Dark Goddess and converted to the Dark Faith.   Ghost was given the promised dilapidated building near the heart of the city and Capitol Academy, and he set to work renovating it into a cozy tavern and inn. But in secret, he also made major renovations to the basement, transforming it into a hidden headquarters for the Cult. Using Anya's mind magic, he ensured that the workers could not betray their secrets, and the headquarters was completed in secrecy.   The Midnight Rose became a popular establishment, known for its delicious food and welcoming atmosphere. Ghost's culinary skills have brought him much acclaim, and was often invited to cook for renowned restaurants and nobles under the name Samael Borage. Despite the danger and risks involved, Ghost is content with his new life and his role in the Cult. He is grateful for the opportunity to put his various skills to use, and to serve the Dark Goddess and her followers.   But beneath the surface, Ghost is always ready to strike, using his deadly skills to defend the Dark Goddess and her followers.
