Session 6: Assault on Hollowmyne (1)

General Summary

  1. The Party made their way down the hill towards the fields adjacent to Hollowmyne, already noting the destruction caused by the Goblinoid force that invaded the village.
  2. They were met by a guard who was fleeing the village, clearly traumatised by the horrid events that transpired in Hollowmyne.
  3. He noted that they were defenseless against the Goblinoids attack; they massacred their defenses first before slaughtering the rest of the denizens in the village (clearly a co-ordinated attack - most unusual for Goblinoids in these parts)
  4. He also warned the Party that he yelled screaming and crying in the centre of the village - something wicked was transpiring there, though he knew not what this was (he was too terrified to check)
  5. When the guard refused to join the party in their reclamation of Hollowmyne, the Party left him to flee on his own away from the dangerous village; in particular Thorin labelling him a traitor that isn't worth the effort to sympathise for.
  6. Zazelle, Jericho and Nephea went ahead to scout the area - this led to an encounter with a contingent of Goblins. Through an elaborate ruse involving illusion magic and comedic timing, they were quickly slain and their bodies hidden in a hay cart that was on fire
  7. Once Thorin, Zuuri and Onyx reunited with the others, they all ventured deeper into the village, only to witness the raw carnage Goblinoids can reap when left unchecked, be it ruthless violence inflicted upon helpless civilians and desecration of property, as both guards and civilians lay slain in the streets.
  8. Perhaps the Gods watched over one particular woman clutching all that she had left in her arms, for moments before she and her child was about to be slain (or worse) by a band of Goblins that picked up her trail, Zazelle and Jericho flung themselves into her house.
  9. They stopped a Hobgoblin from laying a finger on the defenseless civilians while the rest of the party turned the rest of the Goblins into mince meat.
  10. Jericho then proceeded to tend to her child's wounds; a effortless flickle of magic to save a precious life.
  11. Before the Party could decide on a next course of action, they were greeted with the distant chilling sound of undeath as a horde of zombies made its way towards the party.
  12. Demonstrating the iconic trademark stealth of a barbarian, Zuuri made her way towards the horde, attracting their attention in the process. The Party dispatched them shortly after.
  13. This commotion brought a squad of Goblinoids (led by a Bugbear of all things) towards their location; it seems they were searching for the contigent of Goblins that were slain by Zazelle, Jericho and Nephea.
  14. While it is said that Bugbears have deceptively high reflexes and are disturbingly quick on their feet, no Bugbear ever expects a super charged half orc to fling themselves out of a building axe-first, nor would they expect to incur a literal flaming cart to the chest immediately after.
  15. Venturing deeper into the village, they were beckoned to a seeming safehouse by hooded agents of Caboose (a male gnome and a female elf).
  16. They explained that they were sent to Hollowemyne to investigate the risk of a Goblin attack, however clearly underestimated the scale of their attack as they ended up stuck in the village (perhaps waiting for an opening to make their escape to report to Caboose).
  17. They also corroberated the fact that something is going on in the village square.
  18. The Party was allowed to rest here; the agents offered to keep watch.
