Session 3: Spectacle

General Summary

1. The rest of the party could only stare in horror as the fungi swamped upon Melchiah's lifeless body, bone and sinew crunching away
2. Suddenly the fungi took on a greenish glow
3. Thorin ignited the fungi, resulting in all of them catching at once in a bright green fire and hissing menacingly at him.
4. The party ran the fuck away, only for them to immediately return to the spot to find nothing left except ash
5. What was left of the party ventured deeper into the chapel and eavesdropped upon a band of Goblins; they seemed to be harassing an absurd looking Tiefling wearing clowning attire.
6. The Goblins clearly captured and imprisoned this quirky Tiefling in a sermon chamber
7. One door flung into a Hobgoblin's face and three Goblin explosions later, the party decides to trust this clown character (that introduced herself as Zazelle)
8. After a tough encounter with a squad of Hobgoblins, the party agrees to take a short rest, and took the opportunity to fill Zazelle in on what they were doing here. Zazelle decides to tag along for the show.
9. Zazelle conjures a pie out of thin air and proposes to shove a grenade into it - Thorin obliges (cautiously).
10. Zazelle proves her worth and value to the party by proceeding to hang a sleeping (knocked out) Goblin upside down and to give them an arcane-tier wedgie
11. Wedgie aside, the party came across a metal armoured statue (that they'd soon discover is actually a construct). No information as to what it is, why it's here, and who it belongs to
12. The party found the chapel's cash reserves as well as a stone that activates what they learn to be a Derdian Construct
13. The party then discovered that this construct has taken to following the party as well as to taking simple orders
14. Thorin names the mysterious silent Derdian Construct 'Onyx' . Onyx does not react to this.
15. Eventually, the party finds the mechanism to lift the portcullis, realising that time is of the essence (the lack of Goblins in the vicinity led them to conclude that something was going on, making them concerned that Jay has very little time left)
16. One lever pull and collective sprint later, the party found themselves in a massive chamber where greater sermons were held
17. A Goblin crowd jeered and sneered at the party and an unknown Goblin villain presented themselves to the party - it seems he wanted to put on a great show in front of his Goblin subjects
18. The party located Jay Keeniak hanging in a cage high above a sacrificial altar, thus confirming what they feared
19. The mysterious villain released a Giant Constrictor Snake upon the party (Big Betty)
20. Lambda immediately proceeded to seemingly bind themselves to the giant snake, causing this Huge creature to become disturbed at the mere presence of this strange entity
21. Notwithstanding the deadly situation the party found themselves in, this did nothing to stop Thorin from challenging the villain's authority and power over his subjects
22. Clearly rustled by his cutting words, he set his Dire Wolf upon him, however Onyx slammed themselves straight into the it, preventing it from engaging him
23. With a mighty roar, Zuuri entered the fray, slicing into the Dire Wolf and Giant Snake
24. Thorin, fully aware of the Goblins' propensity for cowardice, walked straight past the foes thrown at his feet, in open defiance of the villain's authority
25. Witnessing Thorin's indignation and seeing the heroes fight past their foes, the villain decided to make a break for it through an escape tunnel too small for non-goblin creatures
26. Zazelle, seeing the difficult situation in front of her, decided to hail mary throw her baked ordinance into the snake's centre position
27. Natural 20.
28. The cake coarsed through the air, whisking past the party, and landed squarely in the centre of the snake's coiled body
29. The explosion rippled the snake's hide, dealing a devastating blow to it
30. Soon after, Zuuri dealt the final blow to the snake, resulting in a reckoning of gore and viscera as the snake's innards showered all over the chamber
31. A voice stirred and laughed
32. The Dire Wolf and Hobgoblins on guard were soon after dealt with
33. When the fight was over, no survivors were left (except for the Goblin audience that made a break for it)
34. The Party brought Jay down from her cage through Zazelle's acrobatic prowess
35. Thorin immediately covered her up with the mural
