The Dragon Lords

A small notebook found on the corpse of a scaleless being. Perhaps a foreign preacher on a pilgrimage to educate himself on the Saurian faith.

Ollusia was founded by the 9 great dragon lords. According to the sacred saurian texts, each lord had a purpose in the organisation of life on Aogan. However, when men fell into sin, the lords abandoned them and shepherded the early saurians to their state of civilization. The dragon lords all represent parts of the cycle of life: Life, fertility and birth, learning, faith, hunting, thought, war, death and afterlife.

Orenvale, lord of the Faith

Orenvale, was the first of the dragon lords. He is the herald of fire, and representative of the faith in dragons. He is the direct link between civilized beings and the gods. He is said to be linked to them in a way no other lord is. Indeed, Orenvale hails from a time long before saurians, men or even Aogan. He was born in the world of the gods, and could only look in admiration at their grand majesty. But as he wandered the universe in search of other living beings and visited the Aogan for the first time, he only saw creatures, distraught by the physical world around them, leading meaningless lives... he soon found a purpose of his own. He would show them the beauty of the gods. He would have them see what he had gazed upon for centuries. He would offer them a path to ascension. Only, eight beings would see the gods and their magnificence, The dragon lords. His search for beings worthy and capable of being disillusioned continued of the rest of history. He is the only lord who can speak directly to the great dragon gods and hear them back. It was he who first showed hope for men as their empires started to rise. And when men and gods struck a fine accord, humanity flourished and its golden age began. But as humans started to show interest in the abyss, the opposite of everything dragon, wisdom, light, faith... Orenvales hope turned into despair. He is said to have resorted to unspeakable means to try and bring men back to the light, but it was too late. Men, consumed by arrogance and vanity soon declared war on the gods, and the only beings who could fight on their behalf were those who had seen their grand majesty once before. Only... not all of them choose to do so...

Orel, lord of learning and betrayal

The words here are hard to discern, as the pages are very damaged.

Orel was the second dragon lord. He was the lord of knowledge, and the herald of civilization. He shepherded the early humans, and was tasked with teaching them the way of the gods. This meant he was very close to humans, he was indeed always very involved in the affairs of the court, and is said to have courted human women himself. He had become so infatuated with them, that, when man's empire fell into sin and was to be punished by the gods , Orel decided to side with the humans and wage war against everything dragon. Thus, he became cursed to become more and more human, turning his body into an abominable amalgamation sharing both dragon and human characters, earning him the nickname of "the half dragon". However, he did stand on the side of his fellow dragon lords, when the great battle against Aswalkt took place, before disappearing entirely.

Gavarenth, lord of war and savagery

Gavarenth, the lord of war, destroyed any major threat to life. When that threat became the humans, he was tasked with exterminating them as well. However, when he learned about his brother Orel's betrayal, he couldn't bring himself to wage the war the gods wanted him to. As he became more and more pressed and tormented by his peers, he made the decision to join his bother and fight for humanity. To prevent their greatest general from falling into enemy hands, the lords gifted him a gigantic mace that he would use in battle (in exchange, he thought, for his allegiance). However, this mace had a curse: whoever wielded it in battle would become more and more enraged as blood spilled, and in the end would turn into an unstoppable beast, ravaging everything on the battlefield, friend or foe. So when the moment of the grand betrayal came, Gavarenth turned not only on the dragon lord's armies, but on his brother's as well, unable to control himself. When the sun rose, he was the only living thing left on the battlefield. Orel would never trust him afterwards, such was the intent of the lords, who, in the aftermath promised Gavarenth a chance at making up for his acts by serving the new Saurian empire, and obeying their every order to the letter. He was considered by the early Saurians as a gift from the gods, a blessing only to be used when matters of the up-most importance would present themselves, to avoid insulting them. But as Gavarenth accomplished his many tasks, he became more and more primal, savage, on the battlefield, often destroying any allied army accompanying him in his frenzies. Soon the Saurians nobles saw his as a wild beast, a lap dog they would use to make problems disappear, and lay the blame upon when the affairs would uncover. Gavarenth's final task, was to travel to the Ashlands to face Aswalkt, and save life on Aogan from this unstoppable titan. He planned on going there alone, die to the beast's hand, and be free of this cursed life. No one knows what happened exactly on that day, but Gavarenth was never seen again after that event.

As...

All pages until the end of this book seem to have been hastily ripped out, only a few letters are discernible but meaningless out of their context.

Structure

It is admitted that the dragon lords rank themselves in terms of standing by the date of their appearance. The sooner the lord came to be, the more powerful and thus important he or she was. However, that is just what the sacred Saurian texts say. History might state otherwise.

Public Agenda

The first of the dragon lords wished to create a race of dragons and to rule over it.
