My grandfather often spoke of the Khelid dynasty. From Antioch they expanded and conquered until only one banner remained on every map. The Khelid Empress ruled for hundreds of years atop the eternal throne. No shortage of suitors left her no shortage of heirs. Yet even as her progeny grew old and passed away, their faces blurring with time, the Empress remained. Until the day when the court came to order, and for the first and last time found the eternal throne empty. What became of the Empress is unknown. What is known is that this sparked an age of plague, famine, and civil war across continent. How could we mortal few ever hope to fill a void left by one who was expected to live forever?
