The Road to the Sun Pendant

The Nomadic Caravans of the Wanaje were an ethnic group that were rooted in Antaizon's flat, wide, and mostly dry plains. They were semi-nomadic that frequently carried pendants on their key chains. As Antaizon's major cities expanded, the Caravans lost more and more land and were targeted with government persecution. The Nomadic Caravans  On the surface, these pendants were simply knives or practical tools. Small tools that could fit in your pocket, travel light, and be useful for lots of purposes. Increasingly, these pendants became pieces of art in and of themselves that communicated a variety of coded messages.   This is a tradition that has been taken by the Road to the Sun, and is a source of some bitterness from many of the Wanaje. The Wanaje have been fierce defenders of their semi-nomadic traditions and have spent centuries moving from planet to planet to maintain that tradition. The Road to the Sun, by comparison, has chosen to mostly work and live within the central planets of Antaizon Society. The Wanaje have largely rejected the trappings of modern society. That's not entirely true, of course. They're not above getting on to a ship and finding their way to a new planet... where they can live that semi-nomadic lifestyle all over again, adapting to the surroundings of the places they terraform.   The Road to the Sun has taken on some of the customs of the Wanaje while rejecting their traditionalist lifestyle. But they rely on Wanaje key chains as both codes and spiritual objects. The Wanaje have little respect for the use of these pendants. They consider this a poorly formed and ill defined sort of spirituality. There's little discussion of Gods or of the connection of these pendants to the traditions of the Wanaje. The pendants carry on as a piece of watered down spirituality for those who feel trapped by modernity in a way they can't fully escape.
