Intergalactic Bureau of Investigation

The Intergalactic Bureau of Investigation (IBI) is the primary intelligence and law enforcement service of the Andromeda Quadrant under the Andromeda Quadrant's galactic government. It handles criminal and investigative issues of intergalactic importance within sector 6-epsilon. The IBI's jurisdiction includes galactic offenses like smuggling, drug distribution, and certain types of homicide, as well as crimes of communication and border violations.

The IBI maintains the peace and prosperity of the Andromeda Quadrant, providing support for local and planetary police forces and cross-border enforcement.

History

The IBI was established in 2205 by agents from the Milky Way and at first mimicked a previously dissolved Earth agency known as the FBI. However, the IBI took on more responsibilities as the scope of the law widened. The IBI has faced criticism as a human-centric organization and has responded with initiatives to hire more nonhuman entities.
