Petra

A woman cloaked in mystery, Petra has roamed the worlds of Androg for centuries. Most people would describe her as lighthearted and a little goofy, but that is not who she is inside. Though many stories and legends have sprouted up around her, the true story of Petra is one few living souls have heard. Petra grew up during the middle ages in a family of seven, with her parents and four brothers. She lived happily in her home in Androg. But when a war between her homeland of Phoenix and the Nyads on the border spread across the country, her family was uprooted and torn apart. Her father and two older brothers were sent to the war, and only one of her brothers returned. She and her family moved to Zephyr, where they tried to forget about the war. But when Petra discovered that her father was still alive and being forced to work for the King of Nyad, she ran away from home and tried to rescue him. She was thirteen.  Petra didn't make it across the border before she was caught by Nyad, and sent to work for a rich woman down by the coast. The woman took a liking to her and started teaching her the history of Nyad. Petra particularily enjoyed the stories of the dragons, and the magic they used to hold. She still jumped at every oppurtunity to escape, and did so a year later. She went into hiding and travelled the forests near the Wild lands, trying to make it to her father. She stumbled on an ancient shrine, and found a strange crystal that connected her spirit with a dragon's departed soul. Not knowing that this had happened, Petra continued on and made it to the place her father was said to be. She discovered that he had died three months ago and had a magical outburst, setting the forest on fire and burning it to the ground. Shocked and frightened of her power, Petra fled. She came to a nomadic tribe of Wild people and lived with them for several years. The chief of the tribe, Chief Savage, taught her of the spiritual magic the tribe practiced, and told her that she had a special destiny, as a wielder of dragon magic. Petra got stronger and learned to control her power, and finally left the tribe when Savage died of old age.  Petra returned home to find only her youngest brother still alive. She lived with him for a while, trying to lead a quieter life than the one she had been living. But a young man named Kindle fell in love with her, and she with him. They got engaged when Petra turned 24, but Kindle died of poisoned food two days before their wedding. Petra, enraged, started looking for Kindle's murderer. She finally tracked the killer down and killed him in a duel, but Petra's anger was at its peak and she vanished in a burst of blinding light, only to reappear decades later just in time to help a Prophesied stop a group of people from starting a huge war. She didn't have time to solve her mystery, however, because she vanished yet again and suddenly came back just as another war was about to escalate to new and terrifying heights. This happened again and again, and Petra began to hear herself in bar songs and children's stories, a mysterious woman who came out of nowhere to save Androg whenever it was in trouble. She wholeheartedly accepted her new position, and became the legend she had been forced into. Since, she has continued to grow in power as she helps heroes stop evil again and again, called out of oblivion whenever she's needed.
Ohhhh, When the world is at its end, And when the darkness closes in, The hero will come crashing in, The Hero of Androg is coming! The villains come, the villains go, But Petra comes and slays them all, She'll be here till the world is old, The Hero of Androg is coming!
A popular drinking song in Ent.
Multiple legends of Petra's greatness have risen up, some mostly true, some absolutely crazy. One of the wackier ones is a story about a battle between two Wild Clans, when Petra came in out of nowhere right in the middle of it and resolved the fight by scaring both sides away. According to the story, she turned into a giant quartz dragon and roared so loudly it blowed the Clans away. According to her, she walked in and asked what the heck was going on, and the Chiefs of the Clans recognized her and ran away.
