Court of the Field
The Court of Surprise
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you; digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
Richard Adams, Watership Down
Courtiers
The Courtiers of the Field are those who like to keep friends and enemies alike guessing; they live for the subversion of expectations. Iconoclasts and dissenters, one wonders how they get anything done as a group, though when faced with the menace of the Gentry, they work with a singular, savage purpose. If They cannot predict your movements, how can They possibly catch you? The court sways youthful, and many favor a punk or some other counterculture aesthetic, but one should be wary of trying to come up with a "stereotypical" Field Courtier. A fair number of them hide in plain sight, drab and unnoticed until the time to spring is at hand.
