Detectives in the Heart of Civilization

Ancient Athens is known as the cradle of democracy; with mathematics, government and philosophy all starting there in their modern forms. With civilization came the need for investigators to determine guilt or innocence and find the culprit of various crimes.
Originally citizens, the Athenians decided that it wasn't practical to let voting citizens investigate other voting citizens, and passed the job off to a group of slaves in Athens.
These slaves, now called Scythian Archers, would be in charge of these investigations and answer only to the Senate. Chosen from the most promising ranks of non-citizens, all of these trusted investigators have proven their worth before being chosen to join the Scythian Archers.
The player characters will be members of this diverse organization. They can be from anywhere in Greece or other nearby nations, but they are all slaves dedicated to keeping the peace in Athens from threats internal, external, or mythical.
