Anben

This world of Anben is a world technologically in the 1300's, with kingdoms, knights, and armies. However, at the start of the story, the world changes forever as one in every fifty people are given incredible powers, called Palnor, such as superhuman speed, the ability to control metal, or the ability to create small explosives similar to grenades. The abilities are all limited however. For example, the person that has superhuman speed does not have his thoughts sped up when he goes faster. The story focuses geographically on the country of Sadia, a country that had rebelled 6 years before, and had since then been fighting to maintain its independence. The main characters at first are three knights known for their skills, and the wife of one of the other main characters who enlists after gaining powers. Later in the series other main characters are introduced such as the best general of the country that Sadia rebelled from, the main character's brother that had murdered both of his parents a decade before, and a noble from another country that is famous for his battlefield skills. The series is very character driven, though all of the plot lines have been well thought out to focus both on originality and on making sense. The characters as well are written with the same goals as my plot threads, and none of my characters adhere pretty much at all to any general fantasy tropes. My magic system is much less well thought out than the characters and plot, but it is still relatively unique, and allows for a huge amount of variation in fight scenes, while also having large limitations that prevent the characters from being overpowered.
