Crystallized Path

Destined Artifacts - Prismatic Fisticuffs

The Crystallized Path is one traveled by those who commune with the bounty of the mineral earth itself. They graft crystallized precious stones into the core of their being, touching their very life essence, and when tranced, the barbarian pops these crystals out of their skin, summoning their power in battle.

To walk this path, one must find another who treks it since it is only the master that can graft the crystals into the body and soul of their student. The ancient ritual of the crystallized path was first performed on Cralast but has been spread far and wide as those who see the color and the power of the crystals are compelled by the wills within them to take that power and shape the world around them. The Crystalloids are the most common users of this technique, but flesh takes to this power just the same as a mineral body does. The power of these crystals varies and can be shaped by the Barbarian to empower different aspects of their body, making it an unusual path to be taken by a wilderness warrior. It may not have the raw strength often associated with that type of adventurer, but variety is a power unto itself.

Precious Stone Graft

When you choose this path at 3rd level, you graft under your skin (in a place of your choosing on your body) a cluster of precious crystalized stones, gifted by a veteran walker of the crystallized path. You can go into a trance when you rage. If you do so, for the duration of your rage, you can cast the spell associated with the crystal you have grafted in your body as a Bonus Action on each of your turns after the one during which you raged. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for it. When your rage ends, the crystals return to your body. You may cast spells and even concentrate on them while raging as long as they are a spell cast via this trance state.

Here are the four possible crystals that can be grafted unto you:

  • Agate. You may cast the spell Fire Bolt.
  • Carnelian. You may cast the spell Vicious Mockery.
  • Epidote. You may cast the spell Guidance.
  • Selenite. You may cast the spell Minor Illusion.
Protection of the Crystals

Beginning at 6th level, you gain Resistance to a type of damage while raging depending on which crystal you have grafted into your body in the following manner:

  • Agate. You have resistance to fire damage.
  • Carnelian. You have resistance to psychic damage.
  • Epidote. You have resistance to radiant damage.
  • Selenite. You have resistance to necrotic damage. In addition to this, any friendly creature in a 10-foot radius shares the benefits of your damage resistances.
Second Graft

Beginning at 10th level, your body has fully accepted the first crystal grafts you added to it, meaning you can now add a second row of grafts. You are free to select a second precious gem as listed by the Precious Stone Craft feature, including the same crystal you grafted the first time (meaning you would select it a second time.) When you are in trance and you use a Bonus Action to cast a spell, you cast a second spell associated with the second precious stone selected as your Second Graft.

If you selected the same stone, you may cast the same spell twice. You also add this second crystal to determine which resistance is provided by the Protection of the Crystals feature.

Crystalline Wrath

Starting at 14th level, when you take damage from a creature that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to have a crystal that is grafted into your body emerge allowing you to cast the spell associated with it to any target.
