Aradia's excavati0n

Aradia was brimming with excitement as she looked out over the long stretch of dirt and clay she'd uncovered, she hadn't found any bones yet but she had found a few trinkets. An old watch, some coins, a few bottle caps, but still no bones either there were some inevitably buried deeper down or she would have to expand her excavation site. Of course she'd asked Sollux along with her, it was good to get him out of the hive every now and then, he was extremely well versed with the computer and while she didn't want to distract him from anything he deemed important it was important to her that he get fresh air and some nice time outside of his stuffy hive.
Humming to herself Aradia dug her fingers into the wet, cold, reddish brown hued clay. She'd expand her search a bit then it could look like a real excavation site! Turning towards sollux she brushed a bit of her unruly hair out of the way.
"s0llux, can y0u help me mark 0ff s0me m0re space f0r my excavati0n site, i want t0 make it at least twice as large as it is n0w"
She knew she must look quite the spectacle, hair and face and hands and outfit all covered in the same deep dark reddish brown clay and smears of dirt, but that was all part of the adventure of archeology! She loved it and even though it might not really be Sollux' thing she hoped he was enjoying himself as well, it was nice to spend this time with him, maybe they could do something he liked later!

Sollux had been drug out on a bone hunt by Aradia. He watched her as she dug, this was her element and he was glad she was happy. Sollux however did not want to be out here. He understood her reasoning and knew he needed to get out of the hive more but that didn't mean he had to enjoy it.
He was a little spaced out sitting down close to her. He was lost in thought probably about coding or video games. When Aradia spoke up he snapped out of his haze and blinked. It took him a second before he processed her words. "um yeah 2ure aa ii can help you, but uh what do ii need two do exactly?"
He had dirt on his pants from sitting in it but he wasn't as dirty as her. Not to say that he didn't look bad because boy did he. He had bags under his eyes and looked like he hadn't slept in days. He aslo had a ratty hoodie on and now his pants joined him in his disheveled look.

Standing up from where she had previously been kneeling Aradia wiped the dust off of her skirt instinctually even though logically she knew it wouldn't do her much good.
"well since i d0nt have any traditi0nal markers all we need t0 d0 is make little h0les using tr0wels, we can make a big rectangular shape 0ut 0f the h0les and use that as the b0rder marker then we just need t0 fig between the h0les t0 mark 0ff the area that we're g0ing t0 dig in"
Her eyes lit up with excitement as she recanted the information from her mind to him, really it would have been more professional to use flag markers or something similar but Aradia didnt currently have anything like that on her, so this would have to do.
"and d0nt w0rry ill d0 m0st 0f the digging y0u can just help me mark 0ff the area"

She gave sollux a smile as she handed him a spare trowel.
"i kn0w this isnt what y0u'd prefer t0 be d0ing but i'm really glad y0ure here with me S0llux, i really like spending time with y0u it makes everything g0 quicker and feel m0re fun"

He listened to her and stood up as she talked. He could have stayed seated and used his psiionics but he had a feeling Aradia wouldn't like that. He studied the area as she spoke. He nodded at her and walked over to a spot. He squatted and drove the trowel into the ground.
Sollux sighed and gave her a small smile back "yeah iit2 not really my thiing but whatever iif iit help2 you out and youre happy then cool. plu2 2pendiing tiime wiith you ii2 niice even iif the actiiviity ii2nt. 2o iill ju2t 2tand here whiile you mark the other one2 or? "
He was still a little bit confused but he'd get the hang of it. He just hoped that this was helping her.

"if y0ud prefer it 0ver digging m0re than yea! maybe after this we can d0 s0mething y0u prefer t0 d0 t0gether"
She smiled as him as he attempted to help her, she giggled a bit as a thought passed momentarily through her mind, he was sweet as honey, heehee.
"if y0u have anything in mind that y0u'd like t0 d0 t0gether let me kn0w"
she knelt down and dug her trowel into the earth before standing and walking down a bit and repeating the action.
"we c0uld play a game 0r y0u c0uld just w0rk 0n y0ur c0ding and i can watch and make us s0mething t0 eat"
She continued to do the same monotonous action until there was a large rectangular shape formed out of holes in the dirt and she spuns the trowel in her hand as easily as if it was some sort of weapon before digging what appeared to be a small trench between them.
"whatever y0u prefer"

Sollux sat again and watched her as she went about these actions. She watched her skilled hands as she dug. It was interesting to watch her as she worked. "iill keep thii2 marked then"
He sat and listened to her suggestions. He hummed and thought it over, "playiing a low paced game wiith you could be fun. ii dont want to boar you whiile ii code. ii tend to get a liittle focu2ed."
He took the trowel out of the dirt and poked at the whole in front of him "there are a couple game2 ii have that would be fun to play wiith you, ii know you arent a 2uper iin2ide per2on but who know2 you miight enjoy your2elf."

Aradia continued to hum as she worked, giggling slightly as Sollux suggested that she "might" enjoy herself. It was silly to her, after all Sollux was someone she genuinely enjoyed being with, and she was certain that no matter what they did together be it something she like, he liked, or neither of them liked she would enjoy herself even if just a bit, simply because he was there.
"if its with y0u, im sure i'll find s0mething t0 like ab0ut it even if its just the fact that we're t0gether, s0 i think y0ur right t0 think i might enj0y myself, after all ill be d0ing it with y0u"
She paused in her digging as she finished the trench that now connected together looked like someone had simply drawn out a large shape in the dirt. She'd begin digging downwards now slowly skimming over each layer so she wouldn't miss a thing. This was fun, she felt like a real archeologist with it all plotted out like this.
Standing up she stretched before bending back down to dig methodically into the dirt carefully going over each pebble and rock as if it could hold a mystery within the grooves of its own natural design.

Sollux watched her work and decided he may as well start digging himself. He took the trowel and dug bits of the dirt out while they talked. Of course he enjoyed activities with her even if they weren't specifically activities he liked. Aradia was always fun to be around she always knew what to say how to say it and how to cheer him up. He really hoped that she felt the same about him.
"yeah ii mean ii gue22 a2 long a2 we do iit together and all that mu2hy 2hiit. ii liike 2pendiing tiime doiing your bone 2tuff even iif iit ii2nt my thiing. " He saw something shiny and pulled it up out of the dirt. It was just another bottle cap but Aradia would probably like it anyway.
"hey aa found another bottle cap" he chuckled holding it up to show her.
