Alvaran Where Law Fails

Alvaran is a world that is best defined when one does not try to define it. Many of the laws that govern other worlds, such as the laws of physics, are more akin to suggestions. While reality does follow the more "typical" guidelines, they are easily molded and manipulated by magic users known as the Abberant. There are many who are capable of being Abberant, but only a select few are able to survive their own abilities.
The Abberance is not a phenomenon natural to Alvaran. Aeons ago, the laws of reality were concrete and unchanging, under the watchful eye of Eiud, prime deity of Alvaran and keeper of law. However, Eiud is dead, and has been for some time. As such, there is nothing to uphold the natural order, resulting in the leylines that connect atoms to atoms to become snarled and tangled in places and people, causing the Abberance.
Now, over 10 centuries have passed since the death of Eiud. Humanity has progressed technologically and medically, and evolution has progressed rapidly without the oversight of the Lawkeeper. Thanks to their mastery over the magic of the Abberance, humanity has managed to remain in a state of relative evolutionary equilibrium. However, without the ability to alter the laws of life, chemistry, and physics, other organisms have evolved in unpredictible ways - wolves the size of rhinoceri, parrots with the body plans of ostriches, primarily terrestrial sharks, and winged lizards.
Technology and culture of Alvaran is roughly equivalent to that of the mid-1800s, though it all enhanced by the Abberance. Firearms, bullets, and cannons are often enchanced with glyphs of acceleration, velocity, gravity, or other forms of Physicratic abberation to enhance their effectiveness. Carriages and other modes of transportation are modified in similar manners. Biomancer Abberants are able to alter the expression of genes and replication of cells to control and cure disease. Alchemical Abberants can alter the individual structure of atoms, changing or creating elements. Though magic is easy for Abberants to perform, it is of utmost importance that they learn to control their abilities. Of course, they wouldn't want another god to die...
