Shadar'kai
Appearing near the ruins of Atlantis shortly after the Cataclysm, the Shadar-kai keep their origins secret, and despite reports of familiar elven faces appearing in their ranks, the Shadar-kai were not created in the Cataclysm. Their ties to the Shadowfell and death are disconcerting, but in five hundred years they’ve revealed no nefarious schemes. There is a link between Shadar-kai and blood elves, but only the elders who remember life in the Shadowfell know the full details.
Appearance
Their skin is universally pale, almost corpse-like, though their hair is either jet-black, silver, or white. Shadar-kai eyes are usually red, adding to their undead appearance. Shadar-kai otherwise have the build and features of high elves, making a troubling connection for casual observers.
Clothing
Unlike high elves, Shadar-kai favor drab clothing, usually dark and spun from black wool. They make chains for decoration, often out of silver or steel. Long cloaks are always in fashion even in the heat.
Art
Shadar-kai make little artwork, but they’re dancers par excellence. Several of their ballets have brought Shadar-kai dance troupes around the world, moving audiences with their silent stories.
Religion
The only temples still standing in Atlantis are those dedicated to the Raven Queen.
Cuisine
Shadar-kai food can taste somewhat ashen to other palettes, though their seared meats have captivated adventurous eaters in major cities. Though they eat fewer vegetables than most elves, these are still included with flatbreads and sizzling kabobs, while Shadar-kai prefer distilled spirits as their drink of choice.
