Halflings

Halflings (halflings when trademarks are concerned) are generally peaceful folk who rarely aspire to building kingdoms or adventuring among the stars, but are valued when they do so for their quick hands and wits. Magic is more prevalent obviously, though warlocks are rare (and sorcerers viewed askance). Most wizards and clerics in settled communities quietly pursue their studies and endeavor to help out with community projects; most shires owe their walls and more wondrous irrigation or other architecture to these figures.   Lightfoot halflings are halflings through and through; used to comfort, content enough on their own or in a human settlement. Adventurers among Halflings are simultaneously romantic and scandalous, though always beloved when some monster or horde threatens Halfling settlements. Darts, quoits, bowling, and other such games are popular Halfling pastimes, ensuring that most citizens are equipped to defend their lands if pressed, and retired adventurers are often invited to join local sheriffs, who enjoy using wolf mounts when possible. It should also be noted that the Silent Scream guild often declines contracts on spell casters acting in defense of their communities, and quiet, studious wizards have unleashed cataclysmic devastation on cocky would-be invaders.   Stout halflings are more spirited than their fellows; adventure isn’t as uncommon for them, and they tend to like their lives a *little* more rowdy. Most live near dwarven settlements as opposed to human, and not only have fine dwarven arms and armor with which to defend themselves, but also endeavor to impress their neighbors with the goods of the surface world. Stout wines, tobacco, cloth, and more can rival the work of elves, and their connection to the land and farming specifically might be the strongest of all the races.   Greenleaf halflings dwell on the lunar surface, but they’re the lunar race most likely to travel abroad. Most major cities in the world sport a halfling quarter, and in each of these can be found restaurants, inns, and clinics staffed by these halflings. Their services are the most highly demanded overall of any lunar races, and even if healing and hospitality isn’t always as lucrative as what others have for sale, business has been steady for centuries.
