Gods of Mind

The principles of Order are different than those of Thought. Gods in this sphere focus more on the abstract, astral, and artificial; they are the champions of magic and the written word, skyships and other weapons of war, waking thoughts and dreams alike. Wind and water are inevitably associated with these deities, though the handful who oversee these more natural aspects often stand out from their companions. Deities of this sort are usually lawful neutral, or close to that end of the spectrum.   Hermes - The Messenger, and Psychopomp. Domains: Grave, Trickery A god of messages and also transformation and transition, Hermes guides souls to the underworld and is looked up to by all those who don’t fit neatly into society. He is a frequent fixture of cults, and leans true Neutral.   Quetzalcoatl - The Feathered Serpent. Domains: Ambition, Forge, Knowledge, War Chief of the gods (depending on whom one asks in the Three Sisters) and bringer of knowledge to mortals, Quetzalcoatl appears in many forms and is very active in his followers lives. He can occasionally behave in evil or capricious ways. He leans Lawful Evil.   Thoth - God of Knowledge, Writing, Magic, and the Alphabet. Domains: Arcana, Knowledge Credited with the invention of the alphabet and all that was made possible by it, Thoth is the quintessential sage and wizard, and attracts worship from both around the world. He leans Lawful Neutral.   Sedna - Goddess of the Sea and Sea Mammals. Domains: Grave, Nature, Tempest, Zeal Many are the tales of Sedna, the vengeful goddess of the sea worshipped by humans and shifters far to the north, and by the sea elves. Whales and seals were created by her and are critical sources of sustenance; she must often be appeased by her clergy. She leans Neutral Evil, and is a popular choice for those who dislike cultural norms.   Athena - Goddess of Wisdom and Strategy. Domains: Knowledge, Nature, Order, War Athena is an elven goddess and the matron of a powerful city-state. Her followers look to her for advice and courage both; annals purported to have been written by her in her mortal years are required reading at most high elven military academies. She represents strategy and maneuvering more than other aspects of war, as well as the psychological aspects. The inclusion of Nature in her portfolio is due to the legend that she created the olive tree, helping to fix high elven prosperity..She leans Lawful Good.   Ogham - God of letters and wrestling. Domains: Knowledge, Order, Strength An unusual deity, Ogham is credited by borderlands peoples with creating the written language used by many rural humans and is also an undefeated wrestler. He attracts a rather strange set of clerics generally, but he’s well regarded by many valorous bards. He leans Lawful Neutral.   Ivaldi - Goddess of Artifice. Domains: Arcana, Forge, Light Mother of the Dwarves, Ivaldi lent magic and spirit to the creations of the dwarven patron(s), combining magic and metal to create wonders. Her children were no less accomplished, and her sons forged weapons worthy of the gods while her daughter cultivated the mythical Apples of Immortality. Though dwarves disagree on who their patron is, all acknowledge Ivaldi as the mother of the dwarven race. She leans Lawful Good.   Horned Serpent - God of secrets and wisdom. Domains: Arcana, Nature, Trickery The Horned Serpent is venerated by those who seek answers not easily come by. Revelations to those who invoke this god are often profound, but the path to this wisdom is not for the faint of heart. Many warlocks favor this god; he leans Chaotic Neutral.   Sun Tzu - God of strategy. Domains: Knowledge, Solidarity, War, Trickery An ascended ancestor, Sun Tzu is credited with compiling the most brilliant manual of war and strategy every devised. Ancestor worship is believed to have propelled him to godhood, and he leans Neutral.
