Sonnlinor
Public Agenda
To protect the faith and faithful of Moradin in his name and to toil in the fires of the forge.
History
Within the borders of Alterian the order of the Sonnlinor administers to the matters of tradition, worship and the dwarvish spirit, with a subsect of the order named The Hammers of Moradin handling the military matters that may come into contention against the faith. Whilst the Sonnlinor hold to the clerical and forging role more closely they are none the less all powerful soldiers of their lord in their own right, with each more than capable of holding his own inside the maelstrom of battle.
The Hammers of Moradin have chosen to more closely follow the military side of their organisation, shaping themselves from what were elite warriors already into truly masterful personifications of Moradin's invulnerable aegis for his faithful and his crushing hammer for his foes!
Worship
Worship is conducted to some small degree in the expected manners of scripture, prayer and offerings to the gods, but within the pantheon of the Morndinsamman the truest way to offer your prayer and respect for the gods is through dedication to the task that one undertakes.
In no way more strongly is this shown than through the practice of smithing shown by the Sonnlinor, many hours spent each and every day toiling in the anointed forges and working metal at the anvils whilst reciting the teachings of their lord Moradin.
Priesthood
The leaders of the dwarven people spirit is undoubtedly the Sonnlinor, Moradin's chosen representatives and practitioners of his traditions and rites, it is through the scriptures that they read and the works that they manufacturer that Moradin is able to guide his children to an ever greater dawn.
Through their teachings of work ethic, craftsmanship and loyalty, the dwarven people have learnt to put every ounce of their being into every action that they undertake, whether that is crafting something as trivial as a new shirt through to having a mountain shaking feast.
With the military matters of the faith handled by the Hammers, one would think that clerics who belong to the Sonnlinor are simple priests and unable to fight, however this would be a grave underestimation of Moradin's teachings for it is through his word that each dwarf noble or peasant has the obligation and duty to defend themselves, their clan and their people against any kind of hardship.
Sects
The Sonnlinor: The clerical and traditional aspect of this religion, they handle the sermons and dedicated hours of forging and religious ceremony that is expected of the clerics of Moradin, fashioning some of the most masterfully crafted arms and armor that the world has ever and will ever see.
The Hammers of Moradin: A subsection of the Sonnlinor, the Hammers deal with the more military matters that confront the faith. The Hammers are made up of the best warriors taken from each hold and are responsible for combating dangers to the dwarvish people that a general soldier is not trained to confront.
