Dathomir

Dathomir was once an Elder Forger, but his creation of Black Steel corrupted him and made him nearly destroy the @Gorgun community. Once Dathomir was freed from the Black Steel's vice he chose to live away from the other Gorguns to protect them from him.

Dathomir first created Black Steel in his forge in the bowels of Eirabur's pit. He saw how the civilizations around him were advancing faster than the Gorguns and would soon become stronger than them. He desired to bring his people together so that they could rise to greatness as a unified nation and set to work crafting a material that would make the Gorguns powerful enough to protect themselves. Using a mixture of Gorgun Iron melted by the heat of Eirabur's molten core and cooled in a bucket of his own blood, he used an incantation he found in a book of spells to give the metal greater strength than any other substance in the world. He crafted it into a hammer that gave him the strength of his youth and sought to unite the Gorguns into a powerful nation with him as their leader. He showed his new power to the other Gorguns. They marvelled at his new strength and begged for him to make them Black Steel weapons in exchange for their allegiance. Dathomir agreed and began crafting swords and hammers for each of his followers. However, the effects of holding Black Steel for so long seeped into his mind. He became vicious and cruel and soon his thoughts of protecting his people turned to those of conquest.

The other Elder Forgers saw what was happening to Dathomir and begged him to stop but Dathomir refused. He threatened to kill anyone who opposed him and the Elder Forgers had no choice but to fight him. Dathomir's strength had grown after his long exposure to Black Steel and he could easily have defeated any one of the Elders, but the Elder Forgers fought for their lives and together defeated Dathomir. They broke his arm in order to take the hammer from his grasp and tossed it into the flames of Eiribor. Once the hammer was destroied, Dathomir realised what he had done and was filled with grief and regret. He helped the Elders reclaim and destroy as many Black Steel weapons as they couuld find but some eluded recovery and found their way into the shadows of Hiland. Dathomir renounced his title as an Elder and lives alone in grief for the terrible things he had done.
