Aethers
Nabokar Aether
One of the newer species of aether, the nabokar's bulbous fruit and flowers glow an eire red color. Darklings have only recently begun cultivating it within the heart of the Dark Jungle and its presence is little known.
Bolkapeyon Aether
This aether produces a noxious gas that can be manipulated to cause various effects. Depending on how it is grown and what it is mixed with, bolkapeyon gas can affect a persons mood, give them halucinations, and even put them under another person's control.
The most common aether is Malt Aether though it is usually refered to as just 'aether' and is the base plant from which all other species come from. It is found throughout Hiland growing as a vine under the leaf litter and around the bases of tree stumps and rotting logs. Its green leaves and smooth stem make it nearly indistinguishable from normal ivy. The key difference is the aether's dark red veins on the underside of the leaves, the sign of Scourge's malice.
Malt Sickness
Aether's small black berries are often confused for wild berries and any who are unfortunate enough to eat them become terribly sick. The stomach cramps, fever, and bad dreams are mistakenly assocaited with food poisoning, but it is actually Scourge's malice devouring them from within. The sickness eventually passes within two weeks but is very uncomfortable and draining.Deadly Poison
Darklings favor nabokar for the potent nerotoxin contained in the plant's stem and bulbs. They grind the stems and bulbs to extract the poison and dip their arrows in it so that even a scratch will infect the victim with the poison. The nabokar does not kill the person immediately. As the poison reaches their brain it makes them angry and irrational. They begin to hear voices and become reluctant to seek help, issolating themselves from everyone. If untreated, the poison will consume them and turn them into another darkling for Scourge's army.
