The Silent Den

The Village amidst the Snow

Located in near the border of the Earthen and water courts, in the shadow of Distant rain, a village lays quiet among the Blooming grove. The Silent Den waits to be signaled to carry out their solemn duty. The Tabaxi of The Silent Den hold an important place within the water court, feared for their abilities to strike unnoticed with deadly poisons, The Silent Den acts as a black site wholly dedicated to The Distant Rain tribe and its people. The leader of Distant Rain relies on the discrete training of the Silent Den’s warriors to carry out missions that might seem unsavory if it were to be carried out in an official capacity. With the help of the infamous Death Lotus Flower, that is exclusive to the Blooming Grove, their assets have never been caught during a mission. The snow covered lands of the Silent Den are a perfect training ground to master stealth techniques in extremely difficult terrain.

Government

The Den is governed by a small band of members from the village. No one person knows exactly who is on the council and that’s by design. This Council controls the laws and their punishments. Sentencing of individuals is done in an elaborate ceremony that is seen by the entire village.

Honor and Duty

The Silent Den takes their role in the courts very seriously, and as such their laws reflect the same seriousness. For if they are the arbiters of life and death their punishments should reflect their responsibility to the world. Even smaller crimes such as petty theft carry’s a punishment of banishment form Silent Den lands, their name is forgotten and stricken from village records.   The Den marks their Death Dealers with temporary tattoos that have special meanings depending on what order the Death Dealer is to carry out. They apply these tattoos in a ceremonial ritual that mixes a tiny bit of the black lotus extract into the ink. If a Death Dealer is to be caught in the act or captured, the Death Dealer is to bite down on a false tooth filled with the extract killing them instantly, keeping their secrets safe from others who would misuse their techniques.

Loyalty

The loyalty of the Silent Den to Distant Rain is said to be so strong that not even the gods themselves could dissuade the Den from their sworn duty to protect distant rain from unseen threats. Long ago before the great deception from the Raksasha tribe, The Silent Den was battling a war against a lizard clan that was encroaching on the Dens lands, the den began to lose this struggle due to the sheer number of lizard folk that where thrown a against the Silent den’s forces. Their only hope was to send a messengers to the neighboring tribes in hopes they would lend their might. With Distant Rain being the furthers tribe from them.   The Silent Den stood strong for a time but as the days dragged on it seemed the desperate calls for help had fallen on deaf ears. Just when it looked like the bow was about to break, Mist walkers and weavers from Distant Rain arrived, saving the village from annihilation. Because of this heroic act the Silent Den pledged their loyalty to Distant Rain, the tribe that saved their lives.
